It all started with Michael Phelps was beaten this year for the first time in an individual race since 2005 Paul Biedermann of Germany. Controversy arose over Biedermann’s use of Arena X-Glide, a full polyurethane swimming suit. The Arena X-Glide has surpassed the trusted Speedo LZR Racer in exceptional buoyancy. In fact, swimmers wearing the Arena X-Glide broke over 15 records in a time span of 3 days! It has become clear that the suit gives an unfair advantage to swimmers. The governing body FINA has decided to ban these suits. Phelps, it is to be noted, stuck to his Speedo.
